Thelma Irene Whittaker, 91, of South Shore, Ky., passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at South Shore Nursing and Rehab Center in South Shore.

She was born December 12, 1920, in Princeton, a daughter of the late Henry and Julia Dehart Six.

Thelma was a homemaker, a member of the Micco Jesus Church in Logan, West Virginia, and a 1939 graduate of Williamson High School.

She is survived by two sons, Carl (Olivia) Whittaker of King, N.C., Marvin (Wadalene) Whittaker of Pawley’s Island, S.C.; one daughter, Colleen (Bob) Taylor of South Shore; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Burl Whittaker Sr., August 16, 1982; one son, James Burl “Bubby” Whittaker Jr.; three brothers, Lawrence, Hubert and Harry Six; three sisters, Virginia Staten, Pauline Banai, and Ruth Webb.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, at Weaver Mortuary in Williamson, West Williamson, with Jim Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, and 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday, at Weaver Mortuary in Williamson. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Micco Jesus Church, PO Box 505, Logan, WV 25647.
