This Saturday, July 28, the Cory “Bird” Price Memorial Car Show, Motorcycle Show, and Memorial Bike Ride will be held to raise monies for the Cory “Bird” Price Scholarship.

“On August 8, 2011, we lost a very special person in our lives he was a true friend, a dedicated fireman, a fun individual who devoted his life to saving the lives of those in danger,” said Miranda Hunter, organizer of the event. “Cory Matthew Price was taken from us due to a tragic motorcycle accident.”

Price was the 21-year-old son of Chapmanville Mayor Jerry Price and Marlene Price. He enjoyed Swift Water Rescue, Rope Rescue, diving, fishing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department and the Logan Fire Department and worked for the Logan Emergency Ambulance Service Association (LEASA) and Task Force 1. He was also teaching with the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Mine Safety Academy.

“He loved his motorcycle and fast cars so to honor him we would like to bring everyone together who shares his love of those things,” said Hunter. “We wish to always keep Cory’s memory alive.”

The event will begin with registration from 10 a.m.-noon at the Chapmanville Municipal Building. Entry fee is $15.

The Car and Bike Show will begin at noon. The Memorial Ride line up will begin at 2:30.

“When riders return we will give away awards and door prizes,” said Hunter. “We will have music for the day. We understand that this is very short notice and we apologize for that, but we ask if you would please contribute to the scholarship fund and the event to help make this a success so that we may continue to have the shows and keep Cory’s memory alive. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. “

Along with Hunter (Hunter Photography), others holding the event include Premium Towing (Jesse Elliot) and the Apache Motorcycle Club.

To make a donation, contact Miranda Hunter at 304-784-6234 or contributions can be mailed to: Miranda Hunter, 2184 Chafin Branch Road, Chapmanville, WV 25508.
