The Logan County Chamber of Commerce 2012 Chief Logan Hunting and Fishing Expo is set for this Sat., July 28th and Sun., July 29th, at the Chief Logan Conference Center.

In additional to the various outdoor demonstrations, hunting and fishing displays, contests and special appearances, Mountain State authors will also be on hand at the Logan County Chamber booth, inside the lodge, to sign a wide array of book titles that have regional significance. Among others, author F. Keith Davis will be on hand to discuss aspects of the feud with Expo visitors and sign copies of “The Feuding Hatfields & McCoys,” which he co-authored with Dr. Coleman C. Hatfield, grandson of Cap and great-grandson of Devil Anse Hatfield. The title has recently gained national attention due to the popularity of the multi-Emmy nominated miniseries Hatfields & McCoys.

Davis, who is also a book publisher and founder of Woodland Press, was recently interviewed on-camera for the History channel documentary, “The Hatfields and McCoys: America’s Greatest Feud,” which was narrated by Kevin Costner and directed by Mark Cowen. The show debuted on Sat., June 2nd, in conjunction with the blockbuster miniseries.

Other feud-related titles on display will include “The Tale of the Devil,” by Dr. Coleman C. Hatfield and Robert Y. Spence; and “The Devil’s Son: Cap Hatfield and the End of the Hatfield and McCoy Feud,” by Anne Black Gray.

In addition to Davis, regional authors appearing at the Expo will include Bram Stoker Award-Winning editor and author Michael Knost, Ellen Thompson McCloud, Jessie Grayson, and others. Knost will be signing copies of his popular “Legends of the Mountain State” series, “The Mothman Files,” and other bestselling anthologies and book titles. McCloud and Grayson, both from Logan County, will be greeting the public and discussing their new book, “Shadows and Mountains: Stories from the Dark Heart of Appalachia.”

The Expo will run from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat., and from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sun.; the authors will be on hand beginning at 11 a.m. Sat, and beginning at 1 p.m. Sun. There will be on-site parking and admission to attend is $5. The first 500 children ages 12 and under will receive free admission to the event, courtesy of Gatti’s Pizza of Logan.
