Bill Lackey, 69, of Laurel Creek, passed away September 12, 2012, at his home.
He was born June 11, 1943, at Kirk, the son of the late William and Betty Sartin Lackey.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lackey; a son, William Lackey; sisters, Lilly May White, Florence May White and Ethel Mullins; and one grandchild.
Bill was retired as a clear cutter having worked in the timber industry for most of his life.
Those left behind to cherish in his memories include his children, Allen (Marsha) Lackey of Circleville, Ohio, Eugene (Angela) Lackey of Ranger, Donna (Billy Grimmett) Lackey of Laurel Creek and Karen (James) Francis of Hatfield, Ky.; brothers, Raymond Lackey and Clyde Lackey both of Laurel Creek, and Lonnie Lackey of Elk Creek; sister, Edith Faye White of Laurel Creek;13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church at Dingess, Friday September 14, at 11 a.m. with Elder Albert Cable officiating. Burial will follow in the Lackey Cemetery at Marrowbone Creek. Visitation will be at the Church Thursday September 13, after 6 p.m. with services starting at 7 p.m. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
