WILLIAMSON — Two people who were wanted on outstanding warrants for reasons that included a connection to a recent drug bust stemming from an investigation centered around the Dingess community, and armed robbery, turned themselves in yesterday.

According to informatiom provided by Mingo County Special Investigtor Eugene Crum, Gary Vance, 39, and his girlfriend, Trista Estep, 24, turned themselves in to the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department early Thursday evening and were taken before Magistrate Dee Sidebottom.

Since the armed robbery charges against the pair are capital offenses, the couple both must appear before Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury to be arraigned on those particular counts.

Vance and Estep have been on the run from police for approximately one week after two of their family members, Vance’s father and son, were arrested on drug related charges.

The couple were featured in Saturday’s edition of the Williamson Daily News’ “Mingo’s Most Wanted,” and according to Crum and Williamson Chief of Police C.D. Rockel, numerous tips regarding the couple’s location had been received since the article was published and featured on the Daily News’ website.

“These articles work and this is definite proof,” Crum said. “The defendant knew it was only a matter of time until they were caught and they made the decision to turn themselves in to law enforcement.”

An article will appear in Saturday’s edition of the Daily News with information on the Friday morning circuit court arraignment for the couple.
