PIKEVILLE, Ky. – It has been 12 years since Pikeville beat Belfry in football. Make that 13 years now.

On Friday the Pirates blasted the Panthers 48-0 at W.C. Hambley Field in Pikeville.

In past years this game had become a heated rivalry, but in the last few seasons Belfry has dominated Pikeville. This season was no exception.

The potent Pirates running attack had Belfry had a total amount of 526 yards, all rushing yardage.

The top rushers were Trenity Carr with 150 yards, Austin Hatfield with 149 yards, Justin Johnson and Keaton Taylor, both had 76 yards.

Payton Mullins, Madison Ghormley, and Michael Barnes led Belfry in tackles. Mullins and Ghormley with 11, and Barnes had 9 for the Pirates. Eli Huddle had the only fumble recovery, while Josh Robinson had four interceptions.

Neither team scored in the first quarter.

In the second, Johnson was the first to score on a 7-yard carry.

Keaton Taylor scored three touchdowns on carries of one, one, and 16 yards. Belfry led 28-0 at the left. Carr kicked all four extra points.

In the 3rd quarter, Hatfield scored a pair of touchdowns on carries of 20 yards and 67 yards. Carr booted both extra points on those TDs. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Pirates held a commanding 42-0 lead.

Finally, in the 4th quarter, Hatfield scored on a one yard dive. The extra point attempt by Cameron Johnson was no good.

The Pirates are now 3-1 and will travel to Inez, Ky. this Friday to take on Sheldon Clark. Belfry is ranked No. 4 in Class AAA in the Bluegrass State.

Pikeville is now 1-4 and will play host to Swain County, N.C. this week.
