McDOWELL — There will be singers and crafts, hot dogs and desserts, when McDowell hosts its first annual Fall Festival this year.

The event is set to take place Oct. 13, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the McDowell First Baptist Church Life Center and Yard. The event will be completely free and is completely sponsored by the community and local churches.

The yard will have a stage where gospel singers will be performing, followed by a headlining performance by JoLeigh and several preachers from different denominations.

Also in the yard, community groups will host the Redneck Olympics and other games and events for children, including two greasy pigs, pony rides, and hayrides.

The Fall Festival will offer free concessions of hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and desserts that will offer both gluten-free and sugar-free choices.

The Life Center will provide 30 booths of free games and treat bags at each table. Games are old-fashioned and range from dunking booths to apple bobbing and a duck pond.

Also for the children, there will be opportunities for face and pumpkin painting, and a myriad of other activities for young people.

For more information about the event visit the festival’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/McDowellCommunityFallFestival.
