Woman gets 5 years for abuse charges
PRESTONSBURG — A Floyd County woman indicted last year on charges of sexual abuse appeared in Floyd Circuit Court for sentencing Thursday.
Rhonda Clay, 51, of Cow Creek, was indicted Aug. 18, 2011. She appeared in court Thursday for sentencing on charges of complicity to first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse.
After entering a plea, Clay was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday.
Clay, and her husband Eddie A. Clay, 46, were arrested following allegations of alleged incidents of abuse which occurred from June 1, 2009, through June 30, 2009, involving a child younger than 12 years old.
Eddie A. Clay was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy.
According to police reports at the time, Rhonda Clay was charged with complicity for allegedly aiding, counseling and attempting to aid Eddie Clay in engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 12, as well as first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual contact herself with a person under the age of 12.
Eddie Clay previously accepted a plea agreement, also agreeing to five years in prison. His sentencing was scheduled for Thursday as well, but was resceduled.
