LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.’s fans have once again stepped up and put him in first place. Landau won T.V. Personality of the Year at the National Reality TV Awards USA held Monday night, September 24, in Hollywood.
“I just won Reality TV Personality of the Year 2012…Thanks for letting me be me, and showing it to the world” Landau twitted to his followers on Twitter Monday night.
Winning Reality TV Personality of the Year capped off an amazing year for Murphy, who attended the awards show at the Beverly Crescent Hotel in Hollywood with wife Jennifer and was also a presenter at the awards ceremony.
Since winning season six of America’s Got Talent in September 2011, Murphy has headlined sold out shows at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City, toured the country with his Sweet Lipzz Big Band, sang at Madison Square Garden and the Governor Tomblin’s inauguration and has received the prestigious “West Virginian of the Year” award. To top it all off, Landau’s debut CD “That’s Life” hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard jazz charts, where it stayed for several weeks during the Christmas season.
The National Reality TV Awards was born out of the need to recognize the worldwide producers, celebrities, participants, researchers, and industry that forms part of what is now at the forefront of the global television market. Voting took place on line, and Murphy’s fans again rose to the challenge just as they did with AGT, where Landau won by the biggest margin in the show’s history.
Other nominees for Reality TV Personality of the Year included Jessica Sanchez from American Idol, Kim Kardashian, Jeremiah Jermaine Paul from The Voice, Astro from The X Factor, Arsenio Hall, Lamar from the Khloe and Lamar show, Ben Flaninik from The Bachelor and Tia and Tamera.
