Another meeting set for Rita
RITA — Residents of Rita have been notified that another meeting with a representative from the Governor’s office, along with legal counsel, will be held this week.
A meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25, with the representative, but due to a vehicle accident and unfamiliarity with the area, the representative was unable to locate the new entrance to Rita coal camp.
“He called and said he got lost on Rt. 10,” said Spears. “They have rescheduled that meeting for next Tuesday.”
Again, residents are asked to gather at the Bethlehem (Rita) FWB Church to discuss their options and legal rights on the eviction notices issued in September on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
“While he was on the phone talking to me, I got some more news,” said Spears. “You know what they are planning to do with our property? They are not planning to do anything on our property. They just didn’t want the responsibility of the people being on it. The whole thing about a hotel being built on this property was all lies.”
Residents are asked to bring letters, receipts, lease agreements from Snap Creek and / or DB Land Co. to the Tuesday meeting.
