LEXINGTON – University of Kentucky true freshman punter Landon Foster has been honored as Honorable Mention Punter of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards, based on his efforts vs. Mississippi State on Saturday.

Foster punted eight times for a 43.8-yard average. He had four punts of 50 yards or longer, including a career-best 56-yard boot. He also dropped three punts inside the MSU 20-yard line.

Foster, from Franklin, Tenn., has been chosen Honorable Mention Punter of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards three times this season, also for the Louisville and Kent State games.

Kentucky’s strength of schedule now fifth nationally: Following Saturday’s game versus Mississippi State – Kentucky’s third-consecutive undefeated, ranked opponent – the Wildcats’ strength of schedule has moved to the fifth-toughest in the country, according to the Sagarin Computer Ratings in USA Today.

Kentucky’s six opponents have a combined record of 29-2.

Not including games against Kentucky, UK’s opponents are 24-1, with the lone loss coming at No. 1-ranked Alabama.

Four of UK’s first six opponents were in the national rankings at the time of the game. It’s only the fourth time in school history – and the first time in 42 years – that UK played four ranked foes in the first six games. The other occurrences were in 1957, 1969 and 1970.

Dermontti Dawson Day set for Saturday, Oct. 20 vs. Georgia: The University of Kentucky football team will honor recent Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and UK football legend Dermontti Dawson on Saturday, Oct. 20 with Dermontti Dawson Day at Commonwealth Stadium. The Wildcats will battle Southeastern Conference foe Georgia in the game with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

Dawson, who played at Kentucky from 1984-87, will be on hand for the game, including signing autographs in the Wildcat Refuge two hours before kickoff. Dawson will also be honored on the field during the game, while the first 10,000 fans in the stadium will receive a Dermontti Dawson rally towel. The Kentucky-Georgia football game will serve as UK’s annual Homecoming. Although kickoff time has been set, the network broadcasting the game will not become official until after completion of games this weekend. The UK-UGA game will be on one of these three networks: ESPN2, ESPNU, FSN.
