WILLIAMSON - “Supporting the health needs of the public and assisting them in whatever way we can has always been the backbone of Williamson Memorial Hospital and their staff members,” stated April Toler Mullins, a Registered Nurse at the healthcare facility who is heading up this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness event scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 11.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Program is slated to begin at 9 a.m. Thursday morning and ending at 2 p.m. The event will be held in the hospital lobby and will consist of a variety of activities. A total of 25 free mammograms are up for grabs and area women are encouraged to attend the event and register for the giveaway. Other prizes have been donated by the hospital and other businesses and will be presented to those registering throughout the event.

Free food and refreshments will also be available, and a group of volunteers will be providing free manicures that will include your nails being painted pink, the signature color for the fight against breast cancer.

Educational materials, pamphlets and goody bags will be available for all who attend, as quantity lasts. Members of the WMH nursing staff and the radiology department will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns the public may have regarding breast cancer, mammograms and treatment methods for the disease.

“We’re encouraging all area women to attend this event and take advantage of the opportunity to register for a free mammogram and other prizes we’ll be awarding,” said Mullins. “Our staff is passionate about the fight to end this terrible disease that has claimed the lives of too many Tug Valley residents.”

“Remember, early detection is the key to a successful fight. Come and join us on Thursday to receive information that can change your life, or those of a family member or friend.”
