The Big Sandy Singers are set to perform at Breaks Interstate Park on Saturday, Oct. 20. The family variety show will be held at the park amphitheater and will feature pop, country, and gospel music.

The Big Sandy Singers is the elite, auditioned scholarship singing group from the Big Sandy Region. The group has 12 members who come from Kentucky’s Pike, Floyd, Johnson, Martin, and Magoffin Counties. Each member is extremely talented and has gone through a very rigorous audition process to become a member.

The group’s Gospel music comes from the heart and can’t be beat. “We put God at the center of everything we do,” said Director Laura Ford-Hall. “With His direction, we have been able to perform many places and have had many blessings poured over the group.”

The Big Sandy Singers have opened for The Isaacs, and Gold City Gospel Quartet. They have performed their Gospel music at Dollywood and have been accepted to perform at Disney World. They have had many other experiences as well, including performing as an opening musical act to a speech by UK Basketball Coach John Calapari.

The Big Sandy Singers have released 11 albums, with 3 of those being Gospel Albums, and on each variety album, the group adds a great amount of Gospel music to minister to anyone who might purchase a CD. “This year, our album will have some of our best and favorite Gospel music yet!,” Ford-Hall added. “We are so excited to have our first full show of our new season at The Breaks! It is one of our favorite places to perform.”

“Please visit us online at www.bigsandysingers.com,” concluded Ford-Hall. “Or, ‘like’ our Facebook page: Big Sandy Singers, for our show information.”

The show will begin at 6:30 pm, and admission is free. In case of inclement weather, the show will be moved inside.

Breaks Interstate Park is located on the Kentucky - Virginia border and is accessed by State Route 80. Commissioned by the U.S. Congress in 1954, it encompasses more than 4,600 acres and is one of only two interstate parks in the United States.
