BEDFORD, Texas — Charlotte Nix Hagan of Bedford, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was 92 years old.

Mrs. Hagan was the second of four children of Hulie Clayton and Nellie Barker Nix. She was born and raised in Logan County.

Mrs. Hagan graduated with honors from Marshall University in Huntington in 1942. After graduation she married William T. Hagan (deceased 2011). During World War II her husband served in the army in New Guinea, and she returned to Logan County, where she taught school.

After the war, the couple moved to Madison, Wis., where Mr. Hagan earned a Ph.D. They then spent 15 years in Denton, Texas, where Mr. Hagan taught at University of North Texas; 25 years in Fredonia, N.Y., where he taught at SUNY Fredonia; and finally 24 years in Norman, Okla., where Mr. Hagan retired from teaching at University of Oklahoma. In 2010 they moved to Bedford to be near their two sons.

Survivors include her four children: Tom (Marilyn) Hagan, Martha (Joel, deceased) Ruffman, Dan (Nancy) Hagan and Sarah (Wayne) Esser. In addition she has seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the family and is sorely missed.

Forest Ridge Funeral Home of Hurst, Texas, is in charge of the arrangements.
