Essie Faye Adams, 63, of Hazard, died Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Hazard ARH medical center.
She was the daughter of the late Theo Adams and the late Lula Baker, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Marie Adams, and brothers Fremon, Coy, and Curt Adams.
Essie was a member of the Willow Fern Baptist Church, where she enjoyed Bible study. She was a retired waitress from Frances’ Diner and The Old Hang Out. She loved to watch UK basketball.
She is survived by her son, Dougie Adams and wife Kristi; sisters Clearsie Spencer, Lelia Miller, and Ellen Brewer; brothers Johnny Adams, Carlos Adams, Wesley Adams, and Troy Adams; special friend Frances Napier; special family John and Johnna Noble, Bailey Hughes, and Chelsey Hughes, along with a host of family and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. Visitation will be held at the Willow Fern Baptist Church beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 with Rev. Clell Miller officiating. Interment will be at Adams Cemetery in Leslie County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Willow Fren Baptist Church.
