Hello to all our area readers. It seems just when you get the furnace filters changed and the heat back on in your house, you may have to turn it off again. The forecast is currently calling for anticipated temperatures to be in the 60’s and high 70’s. We may be turning that heat down. I am not complaining though. It has been a pleasant fall so far. I am not looking forward to ice and snow.

Thank you to all that have been sending in books to Sherman High School for the Book Drive. Don’t forget the October 29th Haunted Hallway and Hay Ride fundraising at the school for our library. This will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The Whitesville Walks for A Cure Organization has really worked hard again this year raising money for breast cancer research. To date, they have raised almost 18,000.00 dollars! Congratulations to these ladies that work very hard and put in many hours all year long preparing for such a worthy cause. Gail Daniel, Vickie Dingess and Debbie Anderson are always working behind the scenes to make this happen. There are T Shirts left from the walk that can still be purchased for 12.00. Please contact Gail at Daniel Chevrolet 304-854-1311 or Vickie at the Whitesville State Bank 304-854-1271 to purchase one. It would be wonderful if all the T Shirts could be purchased getting the total amount to the 18,000.00 mark! Show your support and help out!

Also, a reminder for those ages birth to 2nd grade, the Sherman High School Hi-Y Group will be hosting their annual Safe Trick or Treat in the Cafeteria from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Lady Tide Volley Ball Team took on the Buffalo Bison’s at home on Thursday October, 18th. The games were nail biters with Sherman and Buffalo each getting 2 wins, requiring the match to go to a 5th game to determine the winner. Unfortunately, the Tide played hard but ended up getting beat for the match by 3 points. This was a night filled with many emotions. This was Senior Night honoring the nine seniors on the Volley Ball Team. This is the last time these ladies will play on the Sherman High Court. There were some tears shed by the players, parents and fans as these girls said goodbye to their volley ball days. We had a special guest for this event. Sherman High graduate Chris Jarrell of North Carolina, formally of Seth, came in to cheer on the girls and show his support. Thanks Chris!
