Carr Creek Fish & Game Club Open Trap Shoot


The Carr Creek Fish & Game Club will host an open trap shoot at noon on Saturday, Oct. 27. Entry fee is $10 for 50 rounds for adults 16 and over, and $5 for 25 rounds for youth 15 and under. Bring your own shells. Concessions will be available. The shoot will take place at 500 wildlife trail in Brinkley, Ky. Christian bazaar at Bowman Memorial Church


Bowman Memorial Methodist Church of Hazard will host a Christian bazaar on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The bazaar will include hand-crafted items, as well as books, scarves, trinkets, jewelry, craft supplies, homemade cheese balls, baked cookies and cakes, and homemade candy. The church is located at 701 High Street in Hazard.


Bulldog Bash


Hazard will be hosting the annual Bulldog Bash at the First Federal Center on Saturday October 27 at 8 p.m. The Bulldog Bash is a chance for alumni, parents, and students to all come together and celebrate the tradition on Bulldog pride. Tickets are $30 and ticket forms can be downloaded on the Bulldog Bash Facebook page.


Haunted House at Cornettsville Fire Dept.


The Cornettsville Fire Department will host a haunted house on Oct. 26 and 27 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. nightly. Admission is $3 for adults, while children five and under are free of admission.


Hallelujah Night at Frontline Ministries


Frontline Ministries will host Hallelujah Night on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event will include free games, prizes, food, scavenger hunt, hayride, trunk or treat & more! Fall carnival and kids costume contest


The community is invited to a fall carnival, featuring a kids costume contest with cash prize. Meet superhero and cartoon characters, enjoy the giant slide, haunted house, cake walk, concessions and more at the Hazard Pavilion, Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:00 until 8 p.m. Free general admission. Purchase Bulldog Bucks to play games and activities. Proceeds to benefit the Hazard Varsity Cheerleaders.


Housing Development Alliance to hold community house raising


The Housing Development Alliance would like to invite you to join us for our 2012 Community House Raising. The pay is nothing, the weather is always questionable and the work is dirty, but what you get in return is priceless. You will leave the work site with a sense of pride, a feeling of accomplishment, the knowledge that you helped make the dreams of one young family come true, and when you look back at the house, you will be able to say, “yeah, we did that.” On Saturday, Oct. 27, we will be doing the framing work, Monday, Oct. 29 we will be doing roofing and on Tuesday, Oct. 30 we will be working on the siding. Book signing at Perry County Public Library


A local author will be hosting a book signing for her latest novel, Winona’s Righteous Worriers. The signing will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1-3 p.m. The novel was written by Gypsy Marie Roberts. Roberts describes Winona’s Righteous Worriers as a mystery love story promoting women’s empowerment.


VFW events


The following events will take place at the Hazard VFW this year: Make a Difference Day, Oct. 27; Halloween Party, Oct. 27; Veterans Dinner, Nov. 10; Ladies Luncheon, Nov. 17; Christmas Party, Dec. 14; and Light A Child’s Christmas, Dec. 16.


Fall Carnival at Hazard Pavilion


The Hazard High School cheerleaders will host a fall carnival fundraiser at the Hazard Pavilion, Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5 until 8 p.m. There will be fun for all ages, featuring games, prizes, giant slide, haunted house, costume contest, cake walk and concessions.


Trick-or-Treating set Oct. 30


Officials in the city of Hazard announced trick-or-treat times this week. The year’s trick-or-treat activities will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.


Basket weaving offered at Kentucky School of Craft


Interested in basket weaving? Join Frances Whitaker as she demonstrates how to make a Christmas sleigh on Monday, November 12 at 5 p.m. at The Kentucky School of Craft. Photoshop offered at HCTC Knott County branch


Hazard Community and Technical College will offer a five-week Adobe Photoshop course with teacher Danielle Watts that will include the following: Intro to Layout & Basic Understanding of Tools; Understanding Layers and Image Manipulation/B&W; Healing and Restoration; Textures, Doo-dads, and Photoshop Actions; Taking it to the next level-intro to other uses and creations and overview. Join instructor Jennifer Noble as she demonstrates cake decorating.
