The Art of the Mountains annual Christmas at the Cabin craft sale will be held this weekend at the senior center at Perry County Park.

Local crafters will present a variety of handmade items, including some from Phyllis York, who will have for sale home and holiday décor and seasonable accessories including necklaces, earrings, and pins. Items are made from anything ranging from clothes pins to cross stitch. Phyllis affectionately calls her crafts “trash crafts” as they are made from things that would normally be thrown away.

Ann Skidmore Turner writes humorous short stories of an orphan, single parents, and child growing up in a remote Breathitt County area. Booklets of her stories will be on hand at the sale.

Also slated to be present this weekend is Martha Quigley, who will present marvelous painted floor cloths. Floor cloth painting is an art form from Colonial Days in America when rugs were difficult to find and buy. Artists used ship sails when they could no longer be used as sails due to wear. Floor cloths make decorative and easy-to-clean dining room floor covers.

Cory and Jessica Keintzelman, from Huesyville, Ky., design and create jewelry from metal. Their personal designs make every item unique. They also present a variety of paper crafts such as cards and stationary.

Barbara and Carlos Adams are always creating something new. Carlos turns out new quilts and towels, while Barbara matches threads for hand-embroidered pillow cases, table cloths, and aprons.

Darrell and Trina Hamblin have many items made from wood that will last for years. They excel in birdhouses, bird feeders, bubble gum dispensers, and wind chimes. There might be a small stool or table in their section as well.

Cheryl Leabo will present a wide array of items, including ornaments of her own design, as well as crocheted scarves and doilies.

Evalee Patrick is a self-taught crafter who excels in crocheting, knitting, sewing, and making and wreaths. She also makes scarves, bows, arrangements, and many other sewn items.

Lynn Watson, from Leburn in Knott County, makes dresses that can be worn in tea length or mid-calf length by adjusting a ribbon at the shoulder. She has also added tutu sets and sports bands.

Sallie Martin fashions aprons suitable for all occasions, from grilling to tea parties. She also makes vintage style bonnets, and matching bonnets and aprons are available. She will also present southern fried apple pies. Allie is a juried member at the Appalachian Artisan Center.

Ashley Danielle Baker comes from a family where crafting was a way of life. Her list of talents includes quilting, scrapbooking, wood working, crocheting, and painting. She operates a home-based craft business calls Cute 2 the Core Creations, and will present a wide variety of items including camera straps and stethoscope covers, badge reels with changeable caps, jewelry, clothing and more.

Tiffany Fugate and her husband are accomplished wood workers who provide a variety of items, including personally designed Christmas ornaments, boxes to hold candy, pencils and other items, lanterns, and much more. They will have a catalog on hand and will take orders for other seasonal items not included in this sale.

Gina Goodwright offers an array of personally designed pieces of jewelry. Her designs are of excellent material and look far more expensive that the price for which she sells them.

Nancy Kelly Allen has written 28 books for children, and will always swap a tale or two with you or talk recipes, straight from her cookbook, Spirit of Kentucky Bourbon.

Lillie Fugate loves a variety of crafts, but her favorite items to make are from cloth. She will present quilts, crocheted blankets and bibs, purses, table runners, and more. She also usually has a selection of homemade candies.

Angie and Dave Duff design and make jewelry, and hand string each bead and precious stone. Their designs will rival what can be found in any jewelry store.

The Christmas at the Cabin sale will take place on Friday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
