The Hazard Bulldogs played their final game of the 2012 regular season Friday, hosting the Sheldon Clark Cardinals at Daniel Field.

Hazard wasted little time putting points on the board. The Bulldogs took the opening possession straight to the house, finishing with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Evan Whitaker to Chris Hudson (6-0).

Sheldon Clark’s time of possession was limited on the ensuing drive as Hazard took the ball away on a turnover. The Bulldogs marched down the field and finished with a one-yard touchdown run by Jordan Olinger (13-0).

Before the horn would sound the end of the first period, the Bulldogs would find themselves in the end zone once again. Evan Whitaker was flushed out of the pocket, and turned the broken play into a 12-yard touchdown run (20-0).

Sheldon Clark would get their first touchdown just as the first period was about to end. The Cardinals crossed the goal line on a four-yard run (20-7).

The Bulldogs erased the score early in the second period. Early in the drive, Nathan Higgins broke off a 49-yard catch and run the netted Hazard six points (27-7).

The Cardinals closed out the first half with a touchdown. The three-yard run tightened the halftime score at 27-13.

Sheldon Clark continued to keep the pressure on Hazard with an early touchdown in the third period. The Cardinals finished a long drive with a one-yard touchdown run (27-21).

Hazard quickly went to work ending the Cardinals’ comeback bid. The Bulldogs went up a pair of touchdowns after Josh Meehan finished a drive with a four-yard run (34-21). They then went up 40-21 on a Nathan Higgins 28-yard run.

The Bulldogs continued to roll in the fourth quarter, as they put two more scores on the board. Nathan Stupart finished a drive with a one-yard run, and Kevin Eversole kicked through a 48-yard field goal (50-21).

The Cardinals got a late touchdown, but to no avail as the Bulldogs had put the game well out of reach. The game ended with Hazard rolling up the 50-28 victory. The Bulldogs will host Berea in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
