Ursal Ray Wilcox, 81, of Auxier, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Oct. 29, 2012, at the home of his loving sister, Peggy Lantz, in Ada, Ohio.


Ray was born on Aug. 22, 1931, in Floyd County, to Deward and Goldia Horne Wilcox. On Oct. 2, 1954, he married Billy Ruth Burchett, who preceded him in death. Together, they had a son, Ursal Ray Wilcox, Jr. (Bracken) who preceded him in death. Ray had a brother, Deward (Bob) Wilcox Jr., who also preceded him in death, and a sister, Peggy (Edward) Lantz of Ada, Ohio.


Ray was a veteran of the Air force, a retired accountant from Arrowood’s Hardware Store, in Prestonsburg, and also retired from the Mountain Gas Company. He was a magistrate of Floyd County for many years. Ray was a Floyd County School Board member. He and his wife Billy started the Genealogy Society in Auxier. Ray devoted many years of his life as a Little League coach.


Uncle Bud will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
