PRESTONSBURG — Families have a chance this weekend to take their children to a fun activity that aims to spur their interest in reading, as well.


The Floyd County Community Early Childhood Council will host the “Fall into a Good Book” family literacy event Saturday, at the Floyd County Library, in Prestonsburg.


The event targets children age 2-5 with a reading of “The Littlest Pilgrim” and other stories. The kids will also have a chance to interact with the Cat in the Hat and Clifford the Big, Red Dog characters, and have a snack with the Very Hungry Caterpillar.


Parents will be able to peruse information stations filled with tips on how to get their children ready for school.


There will also be door prizes and free children’s books.


The event takes place at 11 a.m. and is free.
