WILMINGTON, Del. — Jessie Mae Drake Acord, 92, of Wilmington, Del., went to be with the Lord Friday. November 9, 2012.

Born in Logan, she was a daughter of the late Opie and Delphia Nester Drake of Manila/Logan. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 56 years, John Edward Acord, in 1997; brothers, Bethel Drake and Quincy Drake, and grandson, R. Brett French.

Jessie was wonderful mother, wife, and self-taught seamstress. She was a member of Ogletown Baptist Church, where she helped cook for several years, also sewing clothing for the patients of Governor Bacon Hospital. She was a member of Naomi Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy A. French of Wilmington; two sons, Jerry (Marianne) Acord of Millsboro, Del., and Jimmie (Colleen) Acord of Rockledge, Fla.; four grandsons, Steve French, Brian Acord, Jerry Acord Jr., and David Acord; two granddaughters, Sheri F. Chambers and Kirsten A. Bonacquisti; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Everett and Brian French, Zoe and Leo Acord and Casey Chambers; two sisters, Lola Walls of Lavelette and Ann Vickers of Logan, and a brother, Oather (Helen) Drake of Monaville.

Health Care in Lewes, Del., for their loving care of our mother, Jessie.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, at the McCrery and Harra

Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Altzheimer’s Assoc., DE Chapter,

240 N. James St., Suite 100A, Newport, DE 19804.
