PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville men’s basketball team put five players in double figures with one turning in a double-double in a 101-58 win over Alice Lloyd College on Saturday afternoon at the East Kentucky Expo Center.

The Bears turned the ball over only six times while forcing 19 by the Eagles to win their sixth game in as many decisions with a win over their regional rival.

Pikeville’s latest start matched last season’s 6-0 start as the best in the seven seasons under Coach Kelly Wells.

Senior guard Jamar Briscoe led the way with 19 points while pulling down seven rebounds. Senior guard Trevor Setty tossed in 18 while junior guard Josh Whitaker finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Freshman guard Cody Malicoat tossed in 12 in 10 minutes off the bench, while senior guard Chris Johnson had 10 points and 12 assists.

Junior forward Brandon Greene came up just shy of his own double-double, scoring nine and pulling down nine rebounds. He also blocked three shots.

Junior guard Darnell Tubbs had four steals for the Bears, who also got three thefts from Johnson and Whitaker. The team had 15.

Alice Lloyd got 21 from Isaac Wilson while center Terry Muse added 14. Tyler Rogers finished with eight points and nine rebounds.

Pikeville shot 58.9 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from the arc while making all eight free throw tries. The Bears won the rebounding battle 39-31.

The Eagles managed only 37.1 percent overall and 20 percent from the arc.
