The Washington District Senior League

The Washington District Senior League will be having their player draft on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Ramage Grade School. This will be the only time new players will be accepted. All games are played at Madison Civic Center. Signups begin at 6 p.m. and drafting begins at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 and covers insurance and t-shirt. Players must be in 7th grade or above. Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch

Foster Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at 7 p.m. We will be planning the Christmas Party.

Nellis Neighborhood Watch meeting

Neighborhood Watch meeting is scheduled for Nov. 27, 2012, at 6 p.m., at the Nellis Church/Archives Building.

Public Service Announcement

The Food Handlers Classes will be held at the Public Health Building, located near Danville, just off the Lick Creek Road on Monday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. Please note that under state law any person(s) that is involved in the preparation or service of food for public consumption is required to attend a certified food service training course. There will be a $5 charge for the skin test (PPD). The course will be conducted by Sandra Giles, Boone County Sanitarians.

Annual Community Christmas Party

The Appalachian Center for Independent Living, Inc. that serves persons in Boone County is inviting everyone to join us on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the National Guard Armory in Charleston to celebrate its 12th Annual Community Christmas Party. There will be live entertainment, refreshments, a silent auction, raffles, door prizes, Santa Claus and craft tables. For more information, call 304-965-0376.

BCARSE meeting

The Boone County Association of Retired School Employees (B.C.A.R.S.E.) will meet Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at Park Avenue Restaurant in Danville.

Betty Grubbs will present the Devotional. All military veterans will be recognized. The newly elected WVARSE President John Riddle will be present and door prizes will be given.

Our elected Legislative representatives will present the program. A question and answer time will follow. Mrs. Jenny Light, president, encourages all members to attend this meeting.

Candle lighting

There will be a candle lighting at Pineview Cemetery at 4 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2012. Volunteers are welcomed. There will also be a Memory Tree for anyone wanting to bring a bulb for a past loved one is welcomed to do so. For more information, call 304-837-3804.

Veteran’s Memorial

Madison VFW Post 5578 is building a Veteran’s Memorial to honor mothers of veterans and veterans. Purchase a brick for $50. Post 5578 is constructing a Veteran Memorial to honor the mothers’ of Veterans and Veterans. New Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting

Crafters needed

The Boone County Republican Party will meet the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at Park Avenue Restaurant in Danville.
