The Racine United Methodist Church at 998 Short Creek Road will be having a combined soup, baked goods and yard sale on Saturday November 10 from 10 am until 3 pm. Vegetable and potato soup and chili plus a grilled cheese will be sold for $3.50. Drinks, candy and cookies will be 50 cents and other baked goods and yard sale items will be available. Free coffee will be available. Any questions, call Pastor Damron Bradshaw at 304-541-0753.

The Heart of God Soup Kitchen

The Heart of God Soup Kitchen, located at Danville, will be serving hot meals for November on November 15th, 16th, 19th, 20, 21, 16th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th from 1p.m. to 5p.m. December dates are the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, 28th, anyone is invited to come in and enjoy a hot meal. Take-out orders are not available. Clothing and other items available will be given out on the days and hours listed above. Any donation of food, clothing, household furnishings or monetary contributions would be greatly appreciated. For more information or to contact the kitchen call 304-369-4803. In the month of October 999 meals were served.

Gospel Center Tabernacle

The Gospel Center Tabernacle on Riverside Drive and 3rd Avenue W in Madison will have the Annual Veterans Program will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. The public is encouraged to show your support for our dynamic program. Bryant Bowman, former Army Engineer with demolitions training, will be the guest speaker this year. A “Memory Room” filled with military uniforms, flags, weapons and numerous other military items will be available for touring after the program. Refreshments will also be served.

Food Pantry at Amazing Grace Fellowship

A USDA Food Pantry will be at Amazing Grace Fellowship at 12730 Coal River Road in Seth. There is food giveaway the third Saturday of every month, Monday through Friday, from noon to 4 p.m.

Free After School Food Program

The Amazing Grace Fellowship “The Rock” announces the sponsorship of the USDA food program. In accordance with federal law and US Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

The Rock a free after school program will serve meals Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday and Fridays from 3 to 4 p.m. and a snack from 5:30 to 6 p.m. On Wednesdays, we will serve the snack from 3 to 4 p.m. and supper from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Pass The Blessing

Clothing give away will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Greenview Community Church, all clothing is free, but there is an admission fee of 2 cans of food. The cans of food will be used in the holiday food baskets.

Gordon Union Church

Gordon Union Church has made Apple Butter and prices are: pints $5 or quarts $8.

The American Baptist Women’s Ministries of the Coal River have cookbooks for sale to raise money for mission purposes. The books are $10 each and contain over 400 recipes. For personal enjoyment or thoughtful gifts, these books may be purchased at the following Baptist churches: Amy, Fork of Coal, Olive (Julian), Racine, Danville or Madison.

There are a limited number of books being printed. Call now to take care of your holiday gift-giving, bridal showers and appreciation acknowledgements. This is such an economical price for such a treasured gift and the proceeds will serve the needed missions.

The Closet

The Closet at Greenwood Church of God will now have the winter clothes out. We are also accepting donations. For more information, call Ruth at 304-247-6549.

McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church

The McCorkle Freewill Baptist Church Crisis Committee invites everyone to participate in our “Community Nursing Program.” The program takes place he third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCorkle FWB Church multipurpose room.

An RN will be available to the congregation of the church, community and surrounding communities to take your blood pressure, check your blood sugar, explain “the VIAL OF LIFE” (essential information to keep on hand), and explain Medical Power of Attorneys or Living Wills.

Barbara Kessinger, RN, heads the Community Nursing Program and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. She can be reached at 304-369-7158. Take advantage of this free informative community service.


Tops (Take off pounds sensibly) meets every Thursday at the Fountain of Life Worship Center, Rock Creek. The entrance is on the left side of the building. Weigh in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Tops is a nonprofit weight loss support group open to men, women and children seven years or older. There is a yearly membership fee. Games and incentives are used weekly to motivate weight loss.

Guiding Light F.W.B. Church

The Guiding Light F.W.B. Church at Rock Creek would like you to come and be with us at our church services at 10 a.m., Sunday School and Church at 11 a.m.; Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Pastor Calvin Jackson welcomes everyone to attend these services.

‘Let the Bible Speak’ radio show airs Sunday mornings
