Six face drug related charges

LOGAN – W.Va. state police officers answering a call on a home invasion with weapons got a call from Logan 911 while en route of a possible methamphetamine lab.


According to the criminal complaints Trp. J.E. Garren, Tpr. J.G. Honaker, Tpr. S.A. Belt and Tpr. R.E. Stowers responded to 558 Huff Creek Hwy. to respond to a home invasion with weapons call.


Officers found several individuals at the back side of the residence and detained them for officer safety. Clearing the residence, officers observed a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine on the back, outside staircase.


One of the individuals directed officers to a backpack hidden in the bushes. The backpack had methamphetamine and precursors for a mobile meth lab along with a clear plastic baggy containing a white powdery substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.


Tpr. S. A. Belt contacted the WVSP clandestine lab removal team to obtain samples.


Police arrested Jimmy Arthur, 41, Tammy Copley, 41, Cheryl Griffin, 51, Katherine Salyers, 30, and Tommy Salyers, 28, and charged them with production of methamphetamine, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver. Elija Hatfield, 36, was charged with conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver.


All six are being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on $100,000 bails.
