PHILO, Ohio — James “Duke” Larry Greenhill, 68, of Philo, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born October 30, 1944, in Hitchens, Ky., he was a son of the late James Frank and Georgie Rucker Greenhill. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Joyce Ellen Ramsey Greenhill.
Duke was the former volunteer fire chief for the Man Volunteer Fire Department; a U.S. Army veteran, a former employee for the Amherst Coal Company and retired from the Noble County Correctional Institute.
Survivors include his daughter, Angie Greenhill of Philo; his stepchildren, Gena (Steve) Stanley of Columbus, Ohio, and Mike (Kari) Stevens of Oregon City, Ore.; brothers, Frank (Trudy) Greenhill, David (Sue) Greenhill and Ronnie (Nina) Greenhill; sisters, Carolyn Sue (James) Wells, and Barbara (Kit) Mead; grandchildren, Matt Greenhill, Shawn Austin, Erica Austin and Dani Stevens; one great-granddaughter, Faith Austin, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, November 24, at the Graceland Memorial Gardens, South Ridge, with Rev. Kit Mead officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be held.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, November 23, at the Farus Funeral Home at Duncan Falls, Ohio.
