Thank you to all that sent books in for the Sherman High School Library Book Drive. Over the past few weeks, more than 450 books were brought to the school to be used in the library. Many Thanks to all!

The Lady Tide Softball Team has started trying to raise funds so they can participate in the Grand Strand Classic Softball Tournament in April 2013.

The team is raffling off a $250 gas card.

The tickets are $10 each for a chance to win this prize.

The drawing will be held on November 30th.

I know this would certainly come in handy for everyone, myself included. Please contact the school at 304-837-3301 or see one of the softball players if you would like to purchase a ticket.

Thanks for your support!

Remember, the Whitesville Walk for a Cure still has a few shirts left.

You can contact me if you would like one. Email or phone, and I can make sure that you get one. The shirts are $12.

We are very close to hitting the $18,000.00 mark. How awesome!

Again, let’s show our support. We are so close and for such a worthy cause.

I am sure every person reading this has had their life touched in one way or another by the dreaded disease of cancer.

We need to do all we can to fund research and help out.

Get Well Wishes are sent to Debbie Anderson of Whitesville.

Please continue to keep Debbie in your prayers. She had surgery a few weeks ago and is now home recuperating. Hope you are feeling better soon Debbie.

Get Well Wishes are sent to Missey Breeden of Dorothy. Missey is a teacher at Whitesville Elementary School. She recently had surgery and is now home recovering. Hope you feel better soon Missey.

I would like to congratulate the Lady Tide Volley Ball Team for the great year they had.

The girls made it all the way to the State Tournament in Charleston.

They did not win at states, but they are all winners to us.

The girls were given a police escort by Corporal Browning from the Boone County Sherriff‘s Department, followed by the Racine Fire Department and a caravan of parents and fans.

We want to thank them and to thank all of the student body, faculty, friends, family and community for all of the support they showed the Lady Tide.

It was a wonderful experience to see everyone come together.

I would also like to mention the Sherman High School won the Sportsmanship Award at the State Tournament in the Single A Division.

Job Well Done to Everyone!

This is the time of year as we get close to Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we reflect on all that we have and tend to give thanks.

We are all so blessed just to live in America and have our freedom, religion, and so many other blessings that truthfully we should give thanks for daily.

The Mayor of Sylvester, Mr. Manuel Arvon, has issued a proclamation that he wanted to share with all of our readers.

The Mayoral Proclamation declares November 18th thru November 24th, 2012 Christian Heritage Week in the Town of Sylvester, West Virginia.

Christian Heritage Week was proclaimed in 2001 in 105 small towns in West Virginia.

How blessed we all are this day and everyday.

Sherman High School Seniors are again selling the bricks to be placed around the ship in front of the school.

If you missed out on ordering them a few years ago, you will want to place your order now.

The bricks come in two different sizes and can be customized with your writing and art on the brick. If you are a Sherman Alumni this is something you will certainly want to purchase.

Purchase a brick for someone as a Christmas gift. What a great idea to surprise someone with.

You can contact the school at 304-837-3301 if you would like to order one.

Happy Birthday Wishes are sent to Jordan Lewis.

Jordan celebrated her 16th birthday on November 11th. Happy Sweet 16 Jordan.

Until next time, remember if something good happens on the Big Coal, Share it so we all will know.
