Smith has first team Williamson Daily News selection in 5-10 junior center Hannah Armstrong returning.

Whitney Evans-Kirk, a senior forward, returns after a year away from the sport. The other starting forward will be senior Amber Linville.

The key substitutes in the Lady Panther rotation will be sophomores Haylea Dempsey and Briana Shrum, freshmen Emily Baisden and Katie Robinson and junior Casey Hall.

Tug Valley finished 12-11 last year.

“We have a young team this year and the early part of our season will be a work in progress,” Smith said. “I think we have a lot of talent on the team but, it will take them time to implement some of the offenses and defenses that we plan on using this year.”

“We will no doubt miss Elizabeth Evans (the WDN Player of the Year). You don’t replace players like her,” Smith said. “So, several players will have to step up and try to fill her shoes this year.”

Smith will be assisted by Aileen Perry, Rachelle Smith and J.W. Endicott.
