ALLEN - The Wesley Christian School boys’ basketball team rolled at home on Tuesday night, cruising past visiting Regional Christian School (Delbarton, W.Va.). Wesley defeated Regional 81-32.
Five players reached double figures in the scoring column as Wesley Christian posted the convincing win.
Senior bigman Stephen Goble paced Wesley with a game-high 17 points. Thomas Hall scored 15 points, Colton Caldwell contributed 14, Damon Adkins added 11 and Dishawn Thompson tossed in 10 for the Riders.
Wesley Christian took control early, outscoring Regional Christian 17-6 in the opening quarter. The Riders added to their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Regional Christian 28-11 to lead 45-17 at halftime.
With the win, Wesley Christian improved to 6-2.
Wesley Christian will compete in the Breaks Interstate Park Tournament in Haysi, Va., Friday-Saturday. The Riders will open play in the tournament versus Faith Baptist Christian Academy Prep School, a squad from , Ga. Faith Baptist has won eight consecutive GCAA state championships and captured a a NACA national high school title during the 2010 season.
