WILLIAMSON - A Gilbert man was incarcerated on a multitude of charges following a show of violence that left his wife and two other family members injured.
Ricky Aaron Shay Blankenship, 24, was arrested by West Virginia State Police Trooper D. Contos and Mingo County Sheriff’s Deputy M.J. Miller and J.R. Fitch, after they were dispatched to a Gilbert residence on a domestic violence call.
According to the criminal complaint the defendant allegedly grabbed his wife, Krista Blankenship, and threw her to the floor, threatening to kill her. The victim stated that her husband got on top of her and started beating her head against the floor. She is said to have had redness and swelling to her face and on her limbs. The defendant then reportedly pulled a long rifle and pointed it at his wife and her friend, Lydia Dalton, telling them he was going to kill them both. The defendant is said to have admitted to the officers that he did pull the gun and did threaten the two females.
While the domestic situation was going on between husband and wife, the defendant’s mother allegedly tried to intervene and was assaulted by her son, who she said grabbed and slung her away from him, and also struggled with her when she attempted to get the gun away from him which resulted in her suffering a laceration to her hand. The mother informed the police that the defendant threatened to kill everyone in the home at the time of the dispute, which included his wife, her friend, his mother and elderly grandmother (Shelia Ramsey), who he is also accused of shoving, causing her to be injured after toppling into a pile of wood. The grandmother suffered bruising, contusions and lacerations to her ribs, her wrist and hand.
Blankenship was charged with 3 counts of domestic battery, domestic assault, assault, 2 counts of wanton endangerment and abuse or neglect of an elderly person. He was arraigned before Mingo County Chief Magistrate Dallas Toler, who set bond at $5,000. He remains incarcerated in the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden.
