BETSY LAYNE - Ten different players scored on Thursday night as host Betsy Layne defeated Cordia 59-18 at the Dome.


With the win, Betsy Layne improved to 3-1. The Ladycats claimed their second straight win after dropping a 58th District/Floyd County Conference game on the road at Allen Central Nov. 30.


Following the loss, Cordia dropped to 0-3.


Senior guard Paige Watkins paced Betsy Layne with a game-high 12 points.


Sophomore guard Brandy Morrow and junior center Bailey Recznik scored eight points apiece as part of the balanced Betsy Layne effort.


The Ladycats claimed an early lead and never faltered. Betsy Layne controlled the contest, especially in the first half.


The Ladycats outscored Cordia 19-3 in the first quarter and carried a commanding 31-6 lead into halftime.


Betsy Layne added to its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Cordia 18-7.


Kayce Tackett and Emily Kidd contributed six points apiece for Betsy Layne in the victory.


Senior forward/center Ashley Anthony led a limited Cordia attack with seven points. junior guard Asha Gonzalez followed, adding five points for the Lady Lions.


Betsy Layne is scheduled to visit Cordia Feb. 11.


The Ladycats are under the guidance of first-year head coach Christina Crase.
