Kermit 35, Burch 23


DELBARTON - The Kermit Blue Devils boys and girls basketball teams earned two victories Monday over home-standing Burch Middle School.


In the boy’s game, Kermit, coached by Ed May, earned the 35-23 victory behind Tyler May who scored a game high 13 points. Colby Savage added 8 to pace the Blue Devils, while Bryson Preece chipped in 7.


The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Zach Curry and Chaz Farley who each scored 5 points.


Lenore 38, Man 33


CHAPMANVILLE – Lenore Middle School defeated Man in the first round of the Chapmanville Holiday Tournament on Friday night 38-33.


Zack Samuels led Lenore with 15 points, while Jonathan Blankenship added 9, Chandler Pack 8 and Austin Baisden 6. Baisden led the team with 9 rebounds.


Lenore then beat Burch on Saturday for the tourney title 34-32. Pack led the Rangers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Blankenship had 7, Mason Layne 6 and Noah Lucas and Samuels 4 each.


Lenore 49, Gilbert 32


The Rangers of Lenore ran past Gilbert 49-32 on Monday night. Blankenship had a game high 21 points. , while Jacob had 7, Samuels 6, Pack and Layne 4 each for LMS for coach James Ed Baisden.


No scoring was reported on Gilbert. LMS will play host to Burch on Thursday night.


Kermit 28, Burch 19 (girls)


In girl’s game, Kermit topped the Lady Bulldogs 28-19, behind 11 points by Taylor Parsley, and Whitt who had 9.


Burch was led in scoring by Bobbi Varney and Shylah Goff who each had 5 points.


On Thursday, Kermit hosts the Williamson Cubpack. Burch will travel to Lenore to take on the Rangers in Mingo County action


Lady Cubpack 31, Matewan 12


WILLIAMSON - The Williamson Lady Cubpack ran past the Lady Tigers of Matewan in middle school action Monday night 34 to 12.


The Lady Cubpack was led in scoring by Beckah White’s 18 points and Tyshira Joplin with 10 points.


Coach Julius “Boo” Hatcher praised the defense of McKinley Stogsdill and Makenna Pinson.


Matewan was led in scoring by Markah York.


Lady Cubpack’s next game will be at Kermit Thursday.
