Marie W. Penn, 81, of Rogersville, Tenn., formerly of Sunset Addition, Williamson, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

Born April 23, 1931, in Rainelle, she was the daughter of the late Jennings Bryant “J. B” Highlander and Florence Clark Highlander.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Penn; three sisters, Dorothy Highlander Byrd, Almeda Highlander, Vickie Johnson and Burma Hatfield; and two brothers, Carrie Highlander and Herman Highlander.

Marie was a retired hairdresser.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Penny (Jerry) Cupp; a grandson, Michael (Melinda) Centers; a granddaughter, Nicole Centers (Allan Brogan); two sisters, Jean Boren (Duke) Brumfield, Jenny (Terry) Epling; great-grandchildren, Michael R. Centers, Jr., Jamie L. Centers, Joey (Kristen) Centers, Shae Centers, Micah McCoy, Makenzie McCoy and a host of nieces and nephews.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She attended the Methodist church in Rogersville.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Saturday, December 15, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m., on Sunday, December 16, at the mortuary. Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
