EDDIE STEPHENS

LOGAN, W.Va. — Mr. Eddie P. Stephens, 95, of Logan, was born July 29, 1917, at Laurel Creek, Wayne County, a son of the late Alex and Anna Kirk Taylor Stephens. He departed this life Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at his residence.


Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Esta Lee Pack Stephens; second wife, Juanita Ruth “Peggy” Stephens, and several brothers and sisters from a very large family.


Mr. Stephens was an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Company for several years, and on the Board of Directors of several companies and businesses including First Federal, National Bank of Logan/Bank One, and Guyan Machinery. He was a member and Past Master and Treasurer of Aracoma Lodge No. 99 A.F.&A.M., past treasurer of all Logan Masonic Bodies, Knights Templar, 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past Worthy Grand Matron of the Eastern Star, and member of the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple in Charleston. He was the Captain of the Logan High School Football Team in 1937.


Survivors include two sons, Rodney L. Stephens of Charleston and Terry B. Stephens of Summers County; two brothers, Paris Stephens of Poca and O.R. Stephens of Madison; sister, Mack Stephens of Texas; six grandchildren, Sarah Burgess and Brent Edward Stephens, both of Charleston, S.C., Anna Stephens and Katherine Lee Valenti, both of Tampa, Fla., Patrick Stephens of Charleston, and Lindsey Erin Stephens of Brooklyn, N.Y., and six great-grandchildren.


Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill with Masonic Graveside Rites.


Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


Evans Funeral home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
