PIKEVILLE - The Pikeville Area YMCA is currently taking registrations for its spring basketball program. The program itinerary includes teaching basic basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, defending, ball control and shooting.


For cheerleading, participants will build self confidence while learning age appropriate chants and experiencing the performance aspect of cheerleading as they cheer for the YMCA Youth Basketball participants.


The league is for boys and girls ages 3-12. Registration is being held through January 4.


The cost is $30 for YMCA members and $45 for non-YMCA program participants.


Soccer: The Pikeville Area YMCA is currently taking registrations for its summer/fall soccer league. The program itinerary includes teaching basic soccer fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, defending, ball control, throw-ins, goal and penalty kicks. The soccer program also teaches the value of sportsmanship along with the YMCA core character development values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and having fun.


The soccer league is for boys and girls ages 3-12.


Registration will be held Jan. 14-Feb. 23.


All registration forms along with registration fees must be completed and paid for by February 28.


All games and practices will take place at North Point Academy (the Old Mullins Grade School) along US 23.


The cost is $30 for YMCA members and $45 for non-YMCA members.
