Robert David Pennington, 75, of Chavies, died Friday, Dec. 21 at the Hazard ARH medical center.


He was a retired coal miner and veteran of the U.S. Army, and the son of the late John A. Pennington and the late Mahala Muncy Pennington. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Faye Pennington; sisters Mae and Elizabeth; and brothers Charlie, John, Alex Russell, and Earnest.


He is survived by sisters Minnie Belle Muncy, Pearl Dyer, Ruth Hutt, and Lucinda Ellis; brothers Paul Pennington and Fred Pennington; sister-in-law Jenny Combs; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.


Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 with Rev. Stanley Hutchinson and Rev. Teddy Bailey officiating. Entombment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
