Fannie Thornberry - age 94 of Stone, KY passed away Monday; December 31, 2012 at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, KY.

Born September 11, 1918 at Heisey, KY; she was the daughter of the late Don and Mintie Francis Varney.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her 1st husband Moses Maynard; her 2nd husband Elmer Thornberry; 2 sons Moses Maynard Jr. and Jimmie Maynard; 2 brothers Willie Varney and John L. Varney; and 1 sister Melba Chapman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Enon United Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Betty (David) Justice of Tucson, Arizona, John (the late Loretta) Maynard of Stone, KY, Linda Carter of Delbarton, WV, and Judy (Pat) Johnson of Danville, VA; 1 step-son Roger Thornberry of Fayetteville, NC; 3 step-daughters Rochella Foster of Gallipolis, OH, Bonnie (Jack) Stewart of Owensboro, KY, and LaQuita (Ken) Steggeman of Junction City, Kansas; 2 sisters-in-law Ida Mae Varney and Millie Justice both of Delbarton, WV; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday; January 4, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Elder Jerry McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M..
