LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. — The man accused of shooting another man Christmas day turned himself in to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department Jan. 4, 2013, at 4:15 p.m.

Mack Brumfield had an altercation with his girlfriend, Sunshine Vance and her stepfather Kenny Tomblin came to her residence. Witnesses told deputies Tomblin and Brumfield were arguing when Brumfield pulled out a gun and shot Tomblin four or five times, then ran off into the woods. Tomblin is still listed in critical condition at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Logan County Sheriff Sonya Porter says it is a huge relief to have Brumfield in custody, “We are glad he turned himself in and that there were no incidents with law enforcement. Our thanks go to the West Virginia State Police, the Huntington, Charleston, Logan Police Departments and law enforcement in other municipalities who have assisted in the efforts to locate Brumfield.”

Brumfield was arraigned before Logan County Magistrate Leonard Codispoti, who set a $50,000 cash or surety bond. He has been charged with malicious wounding and domestic battery and taken to the Southwestern Regional Jail.
