HARTS, W.Va. Virgie Elizabeth Runyon Ritchie, 76, of Harts, went home to be with the Lord and reunite with her husband, the late Claude Junior Ritchie, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington following an extended illness.
Born October 2, 1936, in Logan County, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Mary Runyon. Also preceding her in death was her precious sister, Christine Sheppard, and two cherished brothers, Claude and Moses Runyon.
Virgie was a woman of God, and a member of the Pineview Freewill Baptist Church. She was a light in the lives of her family, her church family, and the community. May her faith, love, strength, and character forever live in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sisters, Pearl (Jeff) Slone and Ruth (Clovis) Carpenter; brothers, Clyde (Mildred) Runyon and Johnny (Linda) Runyon; seven children who were the center of her world: Jewel (Dick) Workman, Rusty (Jackie) Ritchie, Mary (Kay) Adkins, Minnie (Bob) Kovach, Linda (D.J.) Manns, Gina (Garland) Manns and Ragan Ritchie; 22 grandchildren: Nicole (Mark) Dalton, Scottie (Bobbie) Ritchie, Tara (Paul) Warner, Kristie (Darren) Ferrell, Mark Ritchie, Amy Ritchie, Amanda (Daryl) Harless, Jason (Helen) Adkins, Joshua (Carrie) Workman, Justin and Mary Ann Kovach, Jacob (Lisa Haywood) Workman, Miranda (Justin) Harless, Heather (Casey) Farley, Aaron Manns, Chad (Tonya) Manns, Lindsey (David) Willis, Sydney (Corey Stollings) Manns, Tanner Wiley, Walker Wiley, Jocelyn (Rob) Workman, Michelle (Gene) Brumfield, and Stephanie (Danny) Nunley; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 13, at the Collins Funeral Home at Switzer with Pastors Ernest Neace and Donald Manns officiating. Burial will follow at Manns Knob Cemetery at Harts.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
