The Hazard Bulldogs took on the Breathitt County Bobcats Saturday in the consolation game of the WYMT Whayne Supply Mountain Classic. The Bulldogs won the previous two meetings between these two teams by an average of 18 points.

Hazard picked up a couple of quick baskets, but then went cold. Breathitt County then began to make their move. The Bulldogs had the final rally and pulled to within 14-10 at the horn.

The Bulldogs tried to force the tempo in the second period, but could not bring the game even. The Bobcats were able to add to their total in the frame, and went into the locker room with the 28-20 advantage.

Hazard came out of the locker room on fire, and quickly erased their deficit. By the midway point of the third period, the Bulldogs were back on top. With eight minutes remaining to play, Hazard was on top 38-35.

As quickly as the Bulldogs had heated up in the third period, they cooled off in the fourth. Once again, Hazard opened the door for the Bobcats.

With four minutes remaining in the game, the score was tied at 43. The Bulldogs were unable to muster more than a single free throw down the stretch, while the Bobcats jumped out to the late lead, and went on to win the game by the final count of 49-44.
