PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College men’s basketball team dropped a home game to a KIAC (Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) foe on Saturday, falling to Cincinnati Christian University at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center. CCU pulled away to defeat the Eagles 79-72.
Despite eventually suffering the loss, Alice Lloyd played well against CCU, a team that pushed NCAA Division I member Radford University to overtime in a game recently.
Visiting Cincinnati Christian owned a commanding 17-point lead 10 minutes into the game on Saturday. Alice Lloyd, however, managed to battle back. Cincinnati Christian only led 34-28 at halftime.
The visiting team from Cincinnati pushed its lead back out to double figures in the second half. But Alice Lloyd remained competitive prior to falling short late in the conference matchup.
Guard DJ McCommons paced CCU (7-6 overall, 2-1 in the KIAC) with 22 points.
For ALC (8-11; 1-5 KIAC), Tyler Rogers led the way with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Isaac Wilson and Stuart Stamper followed, adding 14 points apiece for the Eagles. Terry Muse contributed nine points, 14 rebounds and three blocks for Alice Lloyd in the loss.
Alice Lloyd is scheduled to play St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Friday night. Tip-off for the Alice Lloyd-SLCOP men’s basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
