LONG BRANCH, Ky. — What began as a day filled with fun and laughter for a father and daughter soon turned into a nightmare when they returned home from a shopping trip to find a large portion of their belongings gone in a burglary that occurred on Thursday, Jan. 17th.
Ron Webb and his 17 year old daughter reside in a rental home located on the Sidney, Ky. side of Long Branch Road, in a picturesque private setting that is envied by most people who drive by the secluded location. With his closest neighbor located approximately ½ mile away, Webb stated that he had fell in love with the house and has resided there for the last four months with his daughter. Not having anyone living in close proximately of their home turned out to be not such a good thing, however, when burglars pulled vehicles across his lawn and up to the porch, and proceeded to steal more items from the home than can be listed.
“I am in total shock,” stated Webb. “I was angry, now I’m hurt and confused. I have played this over again and again in my mind and I still can make no sense of it.”
The bizarre happenings that took place during this burglary that is hard to wrap one’s mind around is the fact that whoever committed this crime stole everything Webb’s teenage daughter owned except her Bible.
“I mean everything,” said the distraught father. “All of her clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry, makeup, curling irons and hair dryer, cell phone (iphone 5), televisions, computer – you name it and it’s gone. They took the blankets, pillows etc. right off the beds. They stole some articles of my clothing, my grandfather’s gun (Snake Charmer 410), a Gibson mandolin, tools, microwave, toaster oven, they even took food and pop out of the refrigerator and the cabinets, laundry detergent, personal hygiene items – the list goes on and on.”
Kentucky State Police were called to the scene and thus far, have no leads. Webb is hopeful that someone driving by his home while the burglary was in process will contact him or the police and give them a description of a vehicle or persons involved.
One daunting fact in this crime that has terrified Webb and his daughter is that while the burglar was taking pictures and decorative items off their walls to steal, they also took photos of his daughters 2011 and 2012 prom.
“My daughter was asking me why would they do that? Why do they want pictures of me? I had no answer for her…no explanation. This has disturbed me more than anything else that pertains to this crime. Knowing that someone has photos of my daughter is a matter of great concern for me,” commented Webb. “My daughter is my life, she’s everything in the world to me. I am really afraid that this burglary is going to scar her and that she may continue to live in fear. That breaks my heart.”
“I am begging for anyone that has knowledge of this crime to please, please come forward and help us. I don’t even want to know your name; I’m only interested in information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Put yourself in our shoes – how would you feel? I’m praying that someone steps up and does the right thing.”
If you are aware of any details that could assist in solving this crime, you are asked to contact Trooper Slone at Pikeville Post 9 of the KSP by calling 606-433-7711, or Webb’s family members at 606-237-4848.
“We’re just dumbfounded that this has happened…I truly have to wonder if our life will ever get back to normal, or whether my daughter will ever feel safe again. This has been a traumatic experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” said Webb.
