DINGESS, W.Va. — Clara Mae York Finley, 77, of Dingess, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 21, 2013, at home with son Wetzel by her side. Clara battled ALS for several years.

Born July 14, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Martha Dillon York. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 45 years, Wess Finley; one brother, William “Ance” York, and sisters, Dosha York and Grace York Adkins.

Clara was a retired employee for the Mingo County Board of Education as a cook with more than 20 years of service and a member of the Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Birdie Mahon; step-daughter, Shirley (Darrell) Loggins; sons, Robert “Bob”, Wetzel and Jim (Vella) Finley, all of Dingess, and Jimbo (Jaime) Finley of Omar; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Booth and Rev. Jimmy Darrell Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church where special services will be held at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Woodrow Moore, Bob Wellman, Don Newsome, Roger Marcum, Scott Sheppard and Alvin “Chipper” Porter.

James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of arrangements.
