Logan County School Superintendent Wilma Zigmond is retiring as of June 30 and the board is interviewing applicants for the position.
Zigmond spoke of her feelings about leaving. “I’m kind of anxious. My husband retired last summer and this makes 45 years for me. After so long a time, it’s time to get new people in. I was a student in Logan County schools and I came up through the ranks. It’s been a very positive and good experience. We’re really proud of what we have done in the school system and hope it continues.”
Applicants for the position include Phyllis Doty, Ernest Amburgey Jr., Ted Kinder, Sammy Dalton and Darlene Adkins. All the applicants are to be interviewed at the meeting held Jan.22 and the announcement as to who will be the new superintendent may be made as early as the next scheduled meeting at 5 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 28, at 506 Holly Ave., West Logan.
