The players from Harts and Chapmanville middle schools will someday be on the same team when they go to Chapmanville Regional High School.
But on the middle school level, the Lions and the Tigers still play their old rivalry.
On Monday, the two met up again at Chapmanville Middle as Harts walked away with a 59-39 win over the Tigers at the CMS gym.
Harts, which improved to 10-5 on the season, was led by its dynamic duo of Drew Williamson and Kyle Browning. Williamson poured in 24 points and was 5-for-9 from 3-point land, while Browning netted 22 points and sank 6-of-10 of his 3-point shots.
As a team, Harts was 11-for-25 from beyond the 3-point arc.
“We had a very slow start in the first half,” Harts Middle School coach Odell Dingess said. “But the dynamic duo heated up in the second half. We also welcomed back Tristin Browning. He had a good effort tonight.”
Caleb Ellis added eight points and six rebounds for the Lions. Tristin Browning chipped in with five points.
Scoring and statistics for Chapmanville was not available as of presstime.
Harts was coming off last Saturday’s 41-21 loss at Poca.
Kyle Browning and Williamson led the Lions with nine points each. The only other Harts player to score was Ellis, who dropped in three points.
