WILLIAMSON - A woman arrested for harboring a fugitive has been arrested by West Virginia State Police.
According to court records, WV State Trooper J.R. Tupper obtained information that Darrell Steele, who had several outstanding warrants including a felony for conspiracy, was inhabiting the residence of Keisha Cook. Tupper, along with officers from the Welch WVSP detachment, went to the Cook residence to serve the warrants on Steele.
Tpr. Tupper found the front door to the residence had been padlocked from the outside. After he forcibly entered the building, Tupper found Steele hiding under a bed.
When troopers tried to retrieve him, Steele allegedly kicked them in the arms and chest areas.
Steele was repeatedly ordered to stop resisting arrest and refused to comply.
After being subdued, Steele was arrested on the original charges, along with two counts each of assault on a trooper, battery on a trooper and obstructing.
Steele allegedly told the trooper Keisha Cook had locked him in the house while she was at work.
Cook was charged with misdemeanor accessory after the act and arraigned by Magistrate Dee Sidebottom.
