BLAIR, W.Va. — James Hershel Aleshire 83 of Blair, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013, at home.

He was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA

Preceding him in death was his wife, Norma Jean Aleshire; parents, James H. and Gola Harless Aleshire; son, Rodney Aleshire; brother, Paul Ellis, and sisters, Audrey Smith, Emilone Browning, Maudie Burgess, Eva Gay Aleshire and Nadene Burgess.

Survivors include his son, Jerry (Jeannie) Aleshire of Blair; daughter, Karen (Bill) Norman of Ottawa; grandchildren, Howard (Trish) Aleshire, Shannon (Mark) Lilly, Jerri Aleshire, Sonny Norman, and B.J. Norman; great grandchildren, Liam Lilly, Mackenzie Norman, Zoie Pauley, Lilly Norman, Howie Aleshire and Khyrstyne Williams; sister, Justine Baldwin and a brother, William “Bill” Aleshire.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, Handley Funeral Home with John Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens at Madison.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
