PIKEVILLE – Senior Trevor Setty had 18 points to lead No. 7 University of Pikeville to a 74-68 win over Bluefield College Thursday night at the East Kentucky Expo Center.

Pikeville (19-3 overall, 10-3 in the Mid-South Conference) struggled from the floor on the night, finishing 28-of-74 for 37.8 percent. Included in that is 5-of-24 from the three-point arc, good for only 20.8 percent.

The lethargic shooting kept the game close for most of the night, as the game Rams countered with 51.9 percent shooting (27-of-52).

The Bears led by as many as 19 (42-23) with 17:36 to play after a jump shot by Setty ended a 9-0 run.

For Setty, a 6-8 guard from Maysville, his total gave him 1,608 points in his career, leaving him only nine behind Hall of Fame member David Rowe’s 1,617 points, which is ninth in school history.

But Bluefield (6-13, 2-11) stormed back and had the lead down to five three times in the final 46 seconds.

Fortunately for the Bears, the Rams got no closer.

Setty led four Bears in double figures, adding 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Setty also had six assists and four steals while turning the ball over only once in 36 minutes of action.

He was joined in double figures by senior guard Jamar Briscoe’s 17, thanks to 9-of-11 shooting from the line.

Senior forward Terrance Saintil joined Setty with a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, eight off the offensive glass.

Junior guard Elisha Justice tossed in 10 while handing out five assists and recording three steals.

The Bears will return to action on Thursday when they visit Georgetown College for an 8 p.m. tip.
