A suspicious substance was found in a dumpster delivered to the new state office building under construction in Logan.

There were four cylinders in the bottom of the dumpster when it was delivered. Construction workers on the scene thought it might be dynamite and called Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper. After looking at the substance, Chief Harper couldn’t identify it either.

“To be on the safe side, I had a bomb technician with the West Virginia State Police bomb squad come and check it out,” said Chief Harper, “It turned out to be roof bolt glue. The dumpster had been at a mine site previously and the containers of glue had inadvertantly been left in the bottom of the dumpster.”

Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti agreed with Chief Harper and said, “There was never any danger, but it’s always better to be on the safe side and have anything suspicious checked out.”
